January 15- Arizona will officially get their 2019 season underway as their Third XV side welcomes Texas El-Paso to Tucson on Saturday afternoon.

Lock Daniel Hagan has been named as the stand-in captain for the youthful side that hopes to start 1-0 on the season against the Rio Grande Conference (DII) champions.

Joining Hagan in the team leadership will be Center Matthew Start, with the Freshman from North Carolina fresh off representing the USA U18s against Canada in their Winter assembly.

Other players to watch include Number Eight Jack McCrossin, Fullback Cyprian Miller, and Hooker Braeden Looper who joined Start in the most recent camp and look to open with a victory against the Miners.

"We take these matches very seriously because the opponent is a school's first side and it's a huge opportunity for guys to show why they deserve to move up the depth chart" said Head Coach Sean Duffy.

11th-ranked Arizona's first two sides have one more week of training until they open their 50th anniversary season, with the Wildcats opening against San Diego State next Saturday on the road before their home opener February 2nd against Utah State.
