Mar 5- Arizona traveled to to San Diego this weekend looking to keep their win streak alive, taking on UC-San Diego in an important Pacific Desert Conference matchup.

 

The Tritons would make it a back and forth battle, coming out strong with an opening try in the tenth minute. Arizona, showing the mettle that has helped them continue to grow as a team, responded in emphatic fashion, with Pele Kruse and Lila Ortega each scoring to make it 12-7. A Molly Chisholm try to go along with two from the Tritons would tie it at 17 going into the halftime break.

Grace Uso and Adrienne Emma would help lead the charge in the second half, with each going on long linebreaks to open the game up and make it 29-17. The scoring barrage was the latest display of free-flowing attack from the Wildcats, a hallmark of the season so far as the team grows under Head Coach Tatum Quimby. "I was so happy to see the team applying skills that we worked on, being aggressive on defense and retaining possession by assisting teammates. Emma Cook was able to step up at 13, running assertively and bringing a strong presence to rucks in the backline" said Quimby. The center pairing of Cook and Chisholm was dominant, with Chisholm scoring twice to make it six in the last two matches.

Those practices paid off in the second half for the Cats, as Quimby's side outscored UCSD 26-7 in the second half to win 43-24 and secure their third straight victory. With key matches upcoming against the likes of ASU and Claremont, there is still much left to do as the Wildcats inch closer to a playoff berth.

 

The win moves Arizona to 4-1 on the year with a bye this coming week for Spring Break. The Wildats will take the field next on March 22nd against ASU at Sitton Field.
